Penny is a robotic waitress designed to attend to the guests at a restaurant and take orders. It would be wonderful to have a robotic waiter attend to you at a restaurant who you can just call using a gesture. The robot would be smart enough to engage in a conversation through Kinect microphones and [...]

This book was mentioned at a brainstorm session at work. I went through the book for a bit and I loved that the book includes some of the mechanisms described in this book were very basic. So basic and simple that one would overlook their potential. I enjoyed browsing through this book and it could be surprisingly useful. [...]

Took a few days off from work. Jason and I raided a Borders store that was shutting down and bought a few really nice books. We love BIG books filled with pictures. I bought 50 Wonders Of The World. Interestingly 4 of them were in India and I haven’t been to any (surprise! surprise!). The [...]
February 3rd happens to be the Chinese New Year. I never really understood the significance of this day or how it was celebrated until I lived in Singapore. Singaporeans love to abbreviate almost everything and Chinese New Year is CNY. All of Fusionopolis (IHPC’s offices) were decorated in Red and Gold and everyone was given CNY goodie [...]

Here’s a picture of my smashed iPhone. I dropped it on the hard wood floor over the summer amazingly, it still worked. Ofcourse, I got the screen replaced eventually but I know two other people who still use their iPhones with packing tape over their broken screens. Now that qualifies for awesomeness. Another freak incident of a pram rolling off the platform onto the tracks in Melbourne Australia this week. Obviously the manual brake system needs to be designed to better to account for the human error factor. Read this for more details on the incident. The baby survived miraculously. Share on Facebook

There seems to a lot of talk lately about how markets should be open and not be dominated by any single or group of Companies. We have Google talking about “Openness and Choice” and we have Apple which guards it’s market space with it’s life. I personally lurrrve Apple products. But then I also love [...]

We traveled to Phuket and I fell in love with the place. Here’s why: We were staying at Kata beach which is further South from Patong. The beaches on the south are PRISTINE! The people are absolutely great. They are forever smiling and helpful (except for one mean guy who was renting us jet skis). [...]

I read about this bizarre incident that happened in Melbourne sometime in October. A baby pram rolled off the train station platform right onto the tracks. The oncoming train dragged the baby (strapped to the pram) about 35m! Luckily the baby survived the freak accident with just a bump on his forehead. Read this article [...]
